Shobek Dethrow has been the ministering evangelist for the Forrest Hill Church of Christ in Selmer, TN for the past 7 years. He’s been married to his beautiful wife, Veleda for 12 years. He was trained to preach the gospel by his father (Charles Dethrow), who preached for some 50 years before he passed away. He comes from a family of gospel preachers. He also had 3 uncles (Floyd Dethrow, Albert Dethrow, and Jimmie C. Steele), who were faithful gospel preachers while they were living as well.
The most important thing there is to know about brother Dethrow is that he absolutely loves preaching and teaching the Gospel of Christ and
he loves everybody, especially God’s children. He is humbled and grateful each time he has an opportunity to preach the word. He’s preached on a campaign in Kingston, Jamaica. He’s conducted workshops for the National Churches of Christ Lectureship. He’s conducted workshops for the Tennessee and Mississippi State Youth Conference. He’s also preached on and conducted numerous gospel meetings, church workshops, and youth rallies for congregations across the brotherhood. He is a straightforward, passionate, sound, gospel preacher who believes in preaching the gospel with boldness, simplicity and power, without adding to it, nor subtracting from it.
Brother Shobek Dethrow is also an educator in the Hardeman County Public School District in Bolivar, TN. He taught 4 th grade for 9 years and is currently the assistant principal at the Bolivar Elementary School. He just started his 19th year (August 1st) in public education and has spent his entire career at the same school.
